We recently reported (OSHA Online Portal for Electronic Submission of Injury and Illness Reports Opens August 1) that OSHA was offering an online portal to report information on workplace injuries. Earlier this week, OSHA suspended use of the portal due to a possible security breach. At this time, OSHA reports that one employer’s data was affected and that the agency has notified the employer.
Visitors to the reporting site will find an alert stating: Due to technical difficulties with the website, some pages are temporarily unavailable.
OSHA has made no announcement about whether the breach affects the compliance date for the submission of employer injury and illness information, which is December 1, 2017 for the 2016 Form 300A.
ThinkHR will continue to monitor developments in this area.
